Art and Environment

Grades 1-8

A multimedia presentation introduces artists who make sculpture in nature, using the materials at hand—trees, rocks, water--in the sites they choose for their work. Students then collaborate on a project that transforms their classroom into a site for sculpture, and the found objects and discarded papers within it into sculptural materials. Using a variety of paper making methods and tools, they will construct a three-dimensional tapestry from these recycled materials.
